FALL CURRICULUM:
The season of preparation


Fall arrives with cooler temperatures and vibrant colors! Bring your budding naturalist out to explore Mother Nature in this, her season of renewal. Each class will focus on a specific theme in nature using hands-on exploration, music and song, crafts and stories. Participants also receive a weekly take-home that includes natural history information, additional exploration activities, a list of story books related to the topic, websites and health and safety information.

Learn of Mother Nature's preparations for winter such as the ingenious ways that plants disperse their seeds to promise new growth in spring.
Look for grasshoppers and crickets in area meadows.
Find signs of animal activity and watch and listen as birds convene for their southerly journey.
Get outside and enjoy the beauty and changes of the season with your energetic child!


 

WINTER CURRICULUM:
The season of rest


Winter is a time when much in the natural world in New England takes a rest. Still, some creatures remain active, while certain plants have adapted to survive the harsh conditions. Come experience the magic of winter nature exploration (inside and outside). In addition to our outdoor classes, PUDDLESTOMPERS offers an indoor-based alternative in winter. Both outdoors and indoors, each class will focus on a specific theme in nature using hands-on exploration, music and song, crafts and stories. All classes end with a snack and story.

Learn about how animals survive the winter and why evergreens keep their leaves.
Look for animal tracks and other signs of winter activity.
Play with snow and ice and explore the concept of temperature.
Observe changes in light through shadows and rainbows.

 

SPRING CURRICULUM:
The season of renewal


Spring is a time of rebirth! Come explore the wonders of Mother Nature in the spring. Each class will focus on a specific theme using hands-on activities, music and song, crafts, and stories. All classes end with a snack and story.

Learn about the growth of seeds, the birth of insects and the march of the amphibians from forests to vernal pools and ponds.
Dance with springtime winds and look for rainbows after April showers.
Observe the graceful unfolding of new buds on trees and bushes and watch birds build new nests.

 

SUMMER CURRICULUM:
The season of growth


Summer is a time of growth and blooming flowers! Mother Nature is alive with activity. Come explore the excitement of Mother Nature in the summer. Each class will focus on a specific theme using hands-on activities, music and song, crafts, and stories. All classes end with a snack and story.

Learn about the march of amphibians from ponds back to forests and fields in search of food.
Observe the colorful show of wild flowers and turtles vying for their place in the sun.
Listen for the chorus of insects and watch the constant flight of dragon and damselflies.
Dance with graceful butterflies.
