Director of Operations (Full-Time)


Do you love young children (ages 2-8) and have a passion for nature? Are you creative, energetic, engaging and genuinely interested in connecting young children (and their parents and caregivers) to the natural world? PUDDLESTOMPERS Nature Exploration is looking for an outstanding candidate to teach and help manage the classes in the Boston area.

PUDDLESTOMPERS’ mission is to connect the youngest naturalists, ages 2 to 8 years (and their parents and caregivers), to the natural world. By providing children and families with seeds of interest and tools of exploration, PUDDLESTOMPERS seeks to help build the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment and love of the outdoors.

Teaching Responsibilities
Lead children and parents or teachers in outdoor exploration using hands-on activities, songs, games, stories and projects. Number of classes per week may vary depending on season.

Qualifications
Prior teaching experience (preschool or lower elementary level a plus)
Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the natural sciences a plus
Prior experience managing teachers preferred
Dependable, responsible and organized
Fun-loving, creative and engaging
College graduate
Must have a car
Immediate start date

Administrative Responsibilities
Manage, implement and develop curriculum (includes managing the curriculum database), support part-time teachers, manage family classes, supervise the Office Manager, assist in marketing of programs, interface with customers via phone and email to help with registration, provide support and to sell program. Also includes some general office tasks.

Qualifications
Highly organized and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn Access
Ability to work independently
Desire to support the growth of a small outdoor education business

Salary &Commitment
We are offering a competitive salary depending upon candidate’s prior experience including a health benefits package. We are looking for a minimum 1-2 year commitment and an immediate start date.

Teacher/Naturalist
Part-Time

PUDDLESTOMPERS’ mission is to connect the youngest naturalists and their parents and caregivers to the natural world. By providing children and families with seeds of interest and tools of exploration, PUDDLESTOMPERS seeks to help build the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment and love of the outdoors.

Responsibilities
Lead children in outdoor exploration with hands-on investigation, active movement and play, songs, games, stories and projects. This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours/week; the number of classes per week may vary depending on season. $15 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience with 2-5 year olds and/or K-2nd graders
  • Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the natural sciences a plus

Internship Position

PUDDLESTOMPERS Nature Exploration is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic intern to help us with our small, growing business. The internship is designed to be valuable experience for anyone who wishes to pursue environmental or early education in the future.

PUDDLESTOMPERS’ mission is to connect the youngest naturalists (2-5 years and K-2nd grade) and their parents and caregivers to the open spaces in their areas. By providing families with seeds of interest and tools of exploration, PUDDLESTOMPERS seeks to help build the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment and love of the outdoors.

Responsibilities:
Serve as a part-time teaching assistant for large, weekly afterschool, private class, and preschool enrichment programs in the Greater Boston area. Hours are flexible. May be structured to fulfill service learning or college credit requirements. $100 stipend offered.

Qualifications

  • Organized, dependable, and hardworking.
  • General knowledge and/or interest in science/nature
  • Prior experience with young children and education a plus
  • Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the sciences a plus
  • Must be a High School Senior/College Student or older
  • Fun-loving, creative and engaging
  • Car preferable
  • Immediate start date.
