Birthday Party/Weekend Teacher 2026

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead children and parents in a 1-hour birthday party program. The program includes a nature-themed lesson, hands-on investigation, outdoor exploration, active movement or games, and a craft. This is a part-time weekend position that requires a 1 1/2 - 2 hour commitment per birthday party. Parties are held at our Nature Center in Newton or at family homes in the Greater Boston area.

Qualifications:

• Prior teaching experience with 2-8 year olds

• Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the natural sciences a plus

• Dependable, responsible, and organized

• Fun-loving, creative, and engaging

• Reliable transportation is a must

Job Type: Part-time

Work Location: In person

Afterschool Teacher/Naturalist

Things to know:

• Programs are for PreK-2nd grade

• Classes are typically 1 hour long

• There is a maximum of 12 children per class

• Programs can be held outside exclusively or can be designed to be taught in an indoor space (season dependent)

Responsibilities:

Lead children in outdoor exploration using hands-on activities, songs, games, stories, and projects. You would primarily be teaching after-school classes for students in PreK-2nd grade, held onsite in the afternoon at their schools. This is a part-time position; the number of classes per week may vary depending on the season.

Monday through Friday openings, up to 10 classes per week.

Qualifications:

• Prior teaching experience with 2-9 year olds

• Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the natural sciences a plus

• Dependable, responsible and organized

• Fun-loving, creative and engaging 

• Must have a car

Nature-Based Curriculum Administrator (Ages 2–9)

Things to know:

• This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week

• The position includes curriculum administration and intermittent teaching

• Teaching takes place during December, February, and April school vacation programs

• Programs serve children ages 2–9

• Work is performed in person

• This position reports to the Program Director

Responsibilities:

Support the preparation and production of PUDDLESTOMPERS’ weekly classes, family programs, enrichment programs, after-school classes, camps, and birthday parties. Responsibilities include:

• Prepare lessons for PUDDLESTOMPERS programs

• Produce teaching aids and gather, clean, organize, and sort lesson materials

• Review, develop, and enhance existing lesson plans

• Gather information for class handouts

• Research STEM- and STEAM-based projects and experiments

• Communicate with families regarding required forms, answer inquiries, and distribute program information

• Receive and file required health records, consent forms, waivers, and vaccination records for participants in drop-off programs

• Serve as a team teacher during December, February, and April school vacation programs

Qualifications:

• At least two years of experience teaching or writing curriculum for outdoor education or community science programs

• Experience working with preschool-aged children is a plus

• General knowledge of or interest in science and nature

• Experience in outdoor education and/or a degree in the sciences is a plus

• College degree

• Dependable, responsible, and organized

• Fun-loving, creative, energetic, and engaging

• Genuine interest in connecting young children and their families with the natural world

• Must have a car
