    Morning Enrichment Teacher - Naturalist

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    PUDDLESTOMPERS™ Nature Exploration is looking for teachers to join our education team!

    Based in Newton, MA, we run programs across the Greater Boston area with the goal of connecting young naturalists to the open spaces in their communities. Through hands-on nature exploration, STEM-based activities, games,, our programs are designed to foster a love of the natural world in all four seasons.

    Things to know:

    • Programs are for Toddlers-Pre K

    • There is a maximum of 20 children per class with preschool staff present

    • Programs may be held outside exclusively or can be designed to be taught in an indoor space (season dependent)

    Responsibilities

    Lead children in outdoor exploration using hands-on activities, games, and songs. You would be teaching enrichment programs for Toddlers – Pre K , held onsite in the morning at their preschools. This is a part-time position; the number of classes per week may vary depending on the season. Compensation is $45-$65 per enrichment program (average program length is 1 – 2 hours, this includes travel + lesson prep). Monday through Friday openings, up to 5 programs per week.

    Qualifications

    • Prior teaching experience with 2-5.5 year olds

    • Familiarity with STEM and Life Sciences

    • Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the natural sciences a

    • plus

    • Dependable, responsible and organized

    • Fun-loving, creative and engaging

    • MUST have a car

    • MUST be local to Boston-metro area

Lead Teacher/Naturalist Summer Camp 2026 • Part- time

  • Lead Teacher/Naturalist Summer Camp 2026

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Lead Teacher Naturalists are an essential part of the PUDDLESTOMPERS™ Summer Camp experience. This is a supervisory and skilled position that involves managing overall activities at the camp as well as supervising other employees and staff. A Lead Teacher is responsible for:

    • Supervising day-to-day operations of site

    • Managing Team & Assistant Teachers

    • Leading team in maintaining a well-structured, safe, clean, and fun environment for children

    • Guiding set-up and clean-up of daily activities

    • Teaching opening lesson, leading campers in activities & games

    • Implementing and enforcing safety protocols in emergency situations, handling medications and severe first aid

    • Serving as initial responder to any problems, issues, and concerns

    • Communicating clearly and positively with other teachers, parents, and children

    • Interacting with children and staff in a positive way

    This is a part-time position, approximately 25-35 hours/week. Camp runs from 9:00am-1:30pm daily, with an early drop-off option for campers from 8:20-9:00am and an extended day option from 1:30-3:30pm. Our primary Summer locations are currently: Nahanton Park (Newton), Saw Mill Brook Conservation Area (South Newton), Warren Recreation Center (Wellesley)—other locations may be coming soon! Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience

    Summer positions have a flexible schedule based on registration. We are looking for teachers with weekly availability for June 3rd - August 30th.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prior teaching experience with 4-9 year olds and/or K-2nd graders

    • Experience in outdoor education and/or degree in the natural sciences a plus

    • Prior leadership and/or management experience

    • Ability to work in an active outdoor environment

    • Dependable, responsible and organized

    • Fun-loving, creative and engaging

Team Teacher/Naturalist Summer Camp 2026 • Part-time

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    Team Teacher Naturalists are an essential part of the PUDDLESTOMPERS™ Summer Camp experience. Team Teachers are expected to provide general support to the Lead Teachers and other staff, while also taking on leadership of activities for campers when guided by the Lead Teacher. A Team Teacher is responsible for:

    • Providing general support to Lead Teacher

    • Working as part of a team to create a well-structured, safe, clean, and fun environment for children

    • Participating in set-up and clean-up of daily activities

    • Acting as a leader for a group of campers: leading activities and games, helping to engage children in outdoor exploration through hands-on investigation, active movement, songs, stories, and art projects

    • Enforcing safety protocols in emergency situations

    • Dispensing basic first aid to the level of their training, handling medications

    • Communicating clearly and positively with teachers, parents, and children

    • Interacting with children in a positive way

    This is a part-time position, approximately 25-35 hours/week.
