Hammond Pond

Hammond Pond (also called Webster Conservation Area) is the largest conservation area in Newton. This GPS address will lead you to the movie theatre located in the same large parking area where we will meet. Off of Hammond Pond Parkway there is a set of lights that lead into the parking lot for the movie theatre and 'The Street at Chestnut Hill.' Turn into the parking lot at the set of lights and take an immediate left into the first (smaller) parking lot area. We will meet behind the signboard that leads to the trail. The pond will be on your right.

 
 

 

Cold Spring Park

Located in Newton Center, Cold Spring Park is 67 acres and full of good family hiking trails. While the main entrance is off of Beacon Street, we will enter off of Duncklee Street. The GPS address will lead you to the house next to the entrance of the trail head. You can park along the street and meet us at the head of the trail.

 
 

 

Kennard Park

246 Dudley Road, Newton
Located on the same plot of land as the Newton Parks & Recreation Department, Kennard Park is part of a collection of open space that also includes Lost Pond Reservation. This beautiful hidden gem is home to active wildlife and plant life (lots of frogs in the spring and summer)! On it's northern edge, it has developed into a quaking bog. Park along the gravel road just after entering and meet on the grassy field.

 
 

 

Crystal Lake

Closest GPS Address: 15 Rogers Street, Newton Highlands
Crystal Lake covers 33 acres and was acquired by the City in 1894 and used for ice fishing in the 19th century. The GPS address will take you to the house located across the street from where we will meet. Our meeting place is on the bank/grassy area off of Rogers Street and Lake Avenue. Look for parking on nearby streets.
